Lance Corporal was called up in September 1939 and was sent to France with the British Expeditionary Force in January 1940, he was promoted to Lance Corpoal a few months before he died. He and two soldier friends were all due for leave but only two of them could get away, they drew lots to see who should stay behind. Lance Corporal Lock was the unlucky one. Later he was bombed and wounded.
He was transferred to Ramsgate General Hospital in London. On receiving a telegram, his mother, Florence and his girlfriend rushed to the hospital but Lance Corporal Lock died just minutes before they arrived. (Bio by Legsie11)
