Kent Goldsmith, 80, of North Liberty, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

A visitation celebrating Kent's life will be held from 3:00-6:00 pm Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sharon; children, Michelle (Todd) Christophersen of Palo, Michael Goldsmith of Clarence, IA, and Kirstin (LeRoy) Mains of Waukee; 9 grandchildren, Connor and Abbie Christophersen, Marisa, Drew, Dylan Goldsmith, Jacob Stoffer, Lauren, Allie and Carson Mains; siblings, Barbara (Ed) Archer of Stanwood, and Marla (Dave) Wiedenhoff of Olin; sister-in-law, Sharon Goldsmith of Davenport, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Goldsmith and sister, Virjean Svoboda.

Kent Goldsmith was born September 20, 1942, in Clarence, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Marie (Rowold) Goldsmith. He graduated from Lowden High School in 1960. On February 28, 1976, he married Sharon Benskin in Omaha, NE. Kent worked at U.S. West Telephone Co. from 1960-1999 when he retired as Manager of Design Services. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Marion, Cedar Rapids Corvette Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Telephone Pioneers.

Kent, known as Goldie by his friends and co-workers shared countless good times with his friends bowling and playing softball in the late 70's and early 80's, yearly deer hunting and fishing trips, weekly golf league and coffee with his fellow retirees at Oscar's. Kent was a lifetime Hawkeye fan and one of his favorite memories was golfing with Hayden Fry. Kent always looked forward to the Chester Road neighborhood summer picnics and Christmas Walk. He loved the family gatherings and playing cards and watching the Hawkeyes. Kent had an incredible work ethic that was instilled in him by his parents. He was a perfectionist to a fault, hardworking and a deep thinker.

Kent was a dedicated and loving husband to Sharon and loved his children and grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
