Sarah was the daughter of David Stubbs and Elizabeth "Betsy" (McDaniel) Stubbs.

Sarah was married to William Washington Purves. Jr. on September 8, 1887 in Erath County, Texas. They had four children.

1--Rosalie 1888-1890
2--Lela Hill 1891-????
3--Lucy Alva 1893-????
4--Etta May 1899-????

The newspaper obituary and the picture of Sarah was given to me by Fain McDaniel. We do not have a picture of Sarah's headstone.

OBITUARY;

MRS. SARAH PURVIS DIES IN STANTON; RITES SET THURSDAY

Stanton---Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Purvis, 87, resident of Stanton 17 years, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alma Baird, after an extended illness.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. W. R. Wright, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery under direction of the Arrington Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Dan Sauhers, B.F. White, Jack Jones, ____McCoy, Billy Avery and Howard Avery.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lela Senter of Morgan Mills and Mrs. Della Steen of Stanton, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Purvis, a native of Robertson County, moved to Erath County at the age of 12, and was married to her husband on Sept. 8, 1887. He did in 1931 in Erath County.

Sarah's name was spelled Purves. It is spelled both ways, but hers is spelled with the letter "E".
