Daniel Shook, 84, Confederate veteran, died at his home at Claremont Thursday morning. The funeral service will be conducted this morning (Friday) at the Claremont church with Rev. Mr. Miller officiating.
Mr. Shook was stricken with the paralysis some time ago and failed to recover. He was a prominent and highly esteemed citizen of his community. Through the many years of service he joined in many civic enterprises. He served in Company E in the Confederate army. Returning from the war, his life was a contribution to his community.
Mr. Shook is survived by five sons and two daughters. His sons are Cull Shook, Charlie Shook, Wilburn Shook, Wade Shook, and Lester Shook; his daughters, Mrs. Cora Shook Little and Miss Lottie Shook.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his granddaughters will act as flower girls. Roy Warren, Walter Shook, Hubert Shook, Roy Shook, Oscar Shook and Lawrence Shook will be pallbearers. Annie Shook, Ruth Shook, Jessie Little, Neva Little, Nona Little, Mary Shook, Pearl Shook and Mary Nell Little will be the flower girls.
