On Feb. 4, 2008, our family was broken with the loss of our beloved mother, Bertha M. Jackson, who was called home to be with the Lord. A native of Covington, Va., she was the daughter of the late John B. Reid and Camilla Jones Reid. Her husband of 60 years, Harry E. Jackson Jr.; sons, Harry E. Jackson III and Andre' Mark Jackson; brother, John Reid; and sisters, Dorothy and Bessie, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Lynne Boykin of Maryland and Robin Dawson (Darrell) of Oklahoma; four sons, Edward "Chick- a-Dee," John "Fuzzy" (Carolyn), Stephen "Turk" (Pamela) and Eric, all of Chesapeake; one brother, Gregory Jones of Richmond; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church Campostella. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.
