Eldridge King, 86, was called home Saturday, October 15, 2022. He was born September 28, 1936 in Madison County, to the late Chester and Sophia Rice King. Eldridge was a truck driver most of his life for Thurston Motor Line and Landair until his retirement. Mr. King was a member of Beersheba Lodge, #3, #463, the Scottish Rite Club of Greene County, the Greene County Shriner's Club, also a member of the Mosheim Order of the Eastern Star, as well as many other organizations. He had a heart for Shriner's children and was a driver to transport them to Shriner's Hospital for as long as his health permitted. You may have seen Eldridge outside Food City on Asheville Highway selling pumpkins or Shriner's papers to raise funds for the Shriner's children.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Henry) Richards; son, Eddie King; step daughter, Debbie (Bobby) Hughes; girlfriend, Brenda Franklin; brother, L.C. (Suzie) King; sisters, Alberta Jeffers, Mary Tullock, Margaret Cole, Patsy (John) Jones; sisters in law, Barbara King and Sue King; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Sophie Rice King; wife, Imogene King; son, Bobby Allen; step grandson, Travis Bell; brothers, Paul, Pender, Emmerson, Shad; and sisters, Catherine Haney and Jerda McCarter.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7 at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home Tuesday, October 18, 2022 with funeral service to follow at 7pm in the chapel of Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home with Danny Crum conducting a Masonic funeral service. Interment will be held at 11am on Wednesday at Greenelawn Memory Gardens with the Greene County Honor Guard and Tennessee National Guard conducting a military graveside. Family and friends to asked to meet at the funeral home at 10am to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Lee Franklin, Ray Peters, Anthony Malone and family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to fourth floor nursing staff and Greeneville Community Hospital East, Dr. Nazarov, and Dr. Bailey.
