Jack Edward Angus was born July 6th, 1935 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Delbert Angus and Revella Elizabeth Knight Angus.
He passed away peacefully in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his wife by his side, at the age of 87 on October 12th, 2022.
He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce, with whom he was married for 68 years.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and children Jackie Mahoney (Mike) and John Angus (Angela) and 5 grandchildren (Tanner, Teagan, Rebekah, Caleb, and Elizabeth).
In 1952, at the age of 17, Jack joined the Utah Army National Guard. Later, he became jump certified and joined the Special Forces. In 1969, although his unit had not been called up yet to active combat for the Vietnam war, when the Army asked for Special Forces volunteers, he volunteered. When Jack retired from the military, he had achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was in the 19th Special Forces group and was an Airborne Jumpmaster with over 120 jumps. He loved being in Special Forces and felt like he was making a difference.
After Jack's military service, he started working for the National Park Service and worked at both Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone National Parks. Following that, he worked a number of years for the U.S. Forest Service in both Colorado and Utah.
Jack was well known for his wood-working craftmanship and furniture building. He also loved gardening, cooking, and reading.
He loved his heritage and doing genealogy work. He wrote regularly in his journal so that his memories could be passed on to others.

Jack was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He always had a smile on his face and a gentle disposition. He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT). A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service starting at 10:00 am.
