LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Mary J. Tropeano, 99, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 21, 2017.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1917, daughter of Gaetano and Josephine Acerra of Girard, the oldest of four children.

Mary married John Tropeano of Pittsburgh in 1946, and they lived in Girard together for almost 50 years. She was a homemaker and had a passion for reading. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband and many friends, dancing at Avon Oaks weekly for years. Mary was a member of St Rose Church and also volunteered visiting patients at Autumn Hills for St. Rose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her brothers, Joseph and Frank Acerra; and her sister, Rose Antonuci.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina Stone and son-in-law Lee Stone; her grandson, Eric Stone and his wife, Chelsea Stone; her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Acerra; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
