MARIETTA Services for Lee L. Lemons, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Flanagan-Watts Chapel with Bro. Cole Tidwell and Shane Lemons officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery.

Born on Oct. 8, 1928, in Enville, Okla. to Hubert "Red" and Lilla May Harris Lemons, he passed away on Feb. 5, 2008, at the Ardmore hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Von Dee Lemons.

Lemons and Mildred Willis were married on Nov. 11, 1946, in Gainesville, Texas.

Lemons, a lifetime resident of Enville, was a respected farmer and livestock breeder of cattle and hogs.

Lemons served four terms (16 years) as a Love County commissioner and was dedicated to improving the roads and bridges in his district, and through state and federal funding, was able to replace most of the bridges. He was also responsible for getting 911 service in Love County, was very involved in the courthouse restoration project and in obtaining funding for the rural volunteer fire departments. While serving as commissioner, he was proud to represent the county on the Oklahoma Department of Transportation Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma County Advisory Board, a liaison between the State Commissioners and Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. He was a member of Love County Soil Conservation board several years, eight years on the County Excise Board and 18 years in the Southern Oklahoma Development Association, four years as president.

He was superintendent and general superintendent of the junior livestock Association and in March 2004, the show was dedicated to him. He was honorary chapter member of Thackerville FFA. He was a leader in the American Agriculture movement, helping farmers and ranchers in the U.S. bring fair prices for ag commodities. He made trips to the International Border of Mexico and Washington D.C. on the group's efforts. An outdoorsman, he was a renowned coon and wolf hunter, commercial fisherman on Lake Texoma 13 yeas in his early life. He was especially proud of his G.E.D. from Marietta High School in 1977, mainly for receiving honors in Mrs. Bank's English class. He was a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Martha Lemons, Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Von Bray, Ardmore; four grandchildren, Marty O'Neal, Shane Lemons and wife, Keisha, Lacy Carroll and husband, Justin, and Michele Flatt; five great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Cook, Garrett Lemons, Carlee Carroll, Bailey Cook and Christian Lemons; and two nephews, Terry and Brent Lemons, Marlow.

Bearers are Derrie Minyard, Clancy Hallum, Don Reed, Jerry Stewart, Tommy Vinson and Terry Hyman. Honorary bearers are Don Willis, Jerry Willis, Larry Willis, Bobby Willis, Marshall Vinson, David McCullers, O.I. Vinson, Thurman Vinson, Claude Brennan, Frank Mitchell, Walter McAnally, M.C. Rains, L.J. Lornes, Jerry Nutter, Anthony Reed, Fred Stanley, Johnnie Crutchfield, Harrison Pershica and Willis Choate.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
