LEMOORE, Kings Co. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lena B. Blakely, 83, were held today in the Phipps Chapel here. Burial was to be in the Lemoore Cemetery.
Mrs. Blakeley, a native of Missouri, died Thursday in a Hanford hospital. She had lived in Lemoore 56 years. Her home was at 34 Follette St.
Mrs. Blakely was a retired chief telephone operator and a member of the Christian Church. She also was a member of the Retired Telephone Pioneers.
Mrs. Blakeley is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Forbes of Riverdale and Mrs. Thelma Vierhus of Stratford; four sons, Verne and Bryan Short both of Lemoore, Clarence Short of Stratford and Paul Short of Vallejo; a step-son L. m. Blakeley of Fresno; a step-daughter, Mrs. Sybil Davies of Hanford; a sister, Mrs. Anna Boss of Lemoore; a brother, Hubert Cones of Birmingham, Ala.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
