CARL "WILSON"'S OBITUARY
It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Carl Wilson Rumley, Jr. of Wilmington, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 71, on October 2, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Wilson Rumley, Sr. and Emily Rumley, and his brothers Don Rumley and Jim Rumley.
Wilson is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pansy Rivenbark Rumley; sister-in-law, Iris R. Sexton; brother-in-law, H. Gene Rivenbark (Vicki); nieces and nephew: Lyn Riggs, Julie Woodring (Ricky), and Will Rivenbark; great-niece and nephews: Justin, Kelsey, and Lee Woodring; "adopted son," Ventzie Penev (Theresa), and his "grandchildren," Nadia and Iliya Penev; and special "family" Pat and Don Butler.
Wilson was a member of Wrightsboro United Methodist Church, and enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was truly a student of God's Word and made a real impact on the members of his Sunday School class. He was always ready to share a testimony or to pray for others because his faith was strong.
Wilson enjoyed watching college basketball and was a devout UNC Tar Heel fan; he also enjoyed watching pro football, but Wilson was famous for his skills as a fisherman. He loved pier fishing, surf fishing, boat fishing, and deep-sea fishing and caught numerous trophy winning fish as a member of 5 fishing clubs over the last 53 years.
Wilson will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but we are confident he is enjoying all the glories of Heaven!
A celebration of Wilson's life will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church Sanctuary. The family will receive friends at a visitation prior to the service from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The committal service will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Park (1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC).
