Jill Banks – 63
Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 19, 2022, after fighting a courageous battle of cancer. She was born on August 7, 1959, in Enid, Oklahoma.
Jill worked as a school counselor for the Echols County Schools before moving to the Lanier County School system, where she retired after 30 years. Her compassionate, caring nature allowed her to touch many lives of students and co-workers alike as a counselor. She often said the best thing she ever did was become a mom to her daughter and son. Her favorite title was "Grammy" to her granddaughter who filled her life with more joy and laughter than she could imagine. Jill was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and lived for Saturdays in the fall, cheering on the Dawgs with her family. She also loved NASCAR and was Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s biggest fan. She was serious about her skills in the kitchen, and for every family holiday or event, you could count on Jill having a delicious dish (or five) ready to go. Jill was preceded in death by her older sisters, Cindy O'Dai and Polly Ruehl, and brother in-law, Shannon O'Dai. The family feels peace knowing there was surely a party full of laughter and elation waiting for her as she reunited with her beloved sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 9, 2022, in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family asks that donations be made in memory of Jill to the Pearlman Cancer Center, 209 Pendleton Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602. The Banks Family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta.
