Funeral services for Wayne L. Farris, 94, of Greenville will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville. He died July 23, 2007, at his home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville.

Mr. Farris was born April 21, 1913, in Hereford, Texas to the late Francis and Dolly Farris. He grew up in Hereford, where he attended school and graduate high school. He has been a resident of Greenville for 43 years where he was employed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over 30 years until his retired in 1988. He was a member of Second Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edwina, and step-daughter, Betty Pace Dempsey

He is survived by two sons, James (Pam) Farris of Monterey, La. and Ricky (Angela) Farris of Jackson; four daughters, Shirley Robinson "Whom was his caregiver during his final years" of Greenville, Martha(Howard) Boyd of Texarkana, Texas, Francis(J.W.) Mims of Winona and Dorthea (Noe) Hernandez of Grand Prairie, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville. The Rev. Howard Boyd will officiate the services.
