Professional Baseball Player. Selected in the 12th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft as a pitcher by the Seattle Mariners. Prior to being called up to the major league he spent time in the minors with the Peoria Mariners (2006), the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (2007), the High Desert Mavericks (2008) and he split the 2009 season with the Mavericks and Diamond Jaxx. On September 24, 2010 he made his major league debut with the Seattle Mariners. He was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves on January 13, 2011 and spent the beginning of the 2011 season with the Gwinnett Braves of the Triple-A International League. In July 2011 he was called up to the Atlanta Braves where he made a few appearance before being send back down to the minors. He was traded to the Boston Red Sox on December 17, 2014 and was designated for assignment on April 29, 2015 and was placed on wavier and claimed by the Chicago Cubs who discovered he had a torn flexor tendon in his pitching arm. As a result he was returned to the Red Sox team and released by them at the end of the 2015 season. During his career he posted a win-loss record of 7-9 and ERA of 3.32 and 159 strikeouts. After retiring from baseball in 2016 he began a job as a police officer with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, after training in 2016. He was a member of the Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame's Class of 2019. He died in a head-on collision on his way to serve at the World Trade Center Command in commemoration of the September 11 attacks when the accident happened.
