Died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 77, a native of Gloster, Miss., a resident of Zachary for the past 32 years and a retired carpenter.

Body at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, with visiting hours from 3 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 2:50 p.m. Friday at which time prayer services will be held. Religious services at the First Baptist Church of Zachary at 3 p.m. Friday, conducted by Dr. Wayne Barnes and assisted by the Rev. Garland McKee. Burial in Roseland Cemetery, Gloster.

Survived by four sisters, Mrs. E. M. Anderson, Mrs. F. M. Tessier, Mrs. L. H. Butler Sr., all of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. P. A. Anker, Zachary; a brother, George W. Umberger, Baton Rouge; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Istrouma Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Zachary for the past 31 years.
