"Isaac Blanton, Sr. was born in North Carolina (probably the part that later became East Tennessee) about 1784. He was dead by September 1865 as that is when Mary Blanton deeded to her grandson, John W. Sharrock, in Cherokee County, Texas, the land on which he settled there. He is buried in the Mixon Cemetery near Troup, Texas, Cherokee County. His grave is marked.

His descendants, Minor F. Blanton and Harvie B. Blanton, pointed out the row of thirteen graves enclosed with concrete curbing in the Mixon Cemetery where the older Blantons were buried, including Isaac and his son, James. If they ever knew, they had long forgotten just who was buried where. The stone for Isaac was placed in the middle of this enclosure."

The above was taken from the writings of Irene Blanton Smith, Daughter of George W. Blanton of Alabama; Granddaughter of Benjamin Blanton & Irene Earnest; and Great Granddaughter of Isaac Blanton.

I have been to Mixon Cemetery many times. The first few times that I visited, Isaac's tombstone was still in the middle of the concrete curbing that Irene spoke about. Then one day I went there and could not find Isaac's tombstone nor the curbing. I discovered that the curbing had been removed and Isaac's tombstone was moved up several rows between Joseph Finley Blanton and wife Eliza Caroline and their infant son.
