Lyda was their first child to live past infancy and was the valedictorian of her class in high school. Her father died when she was 17 and about a year after his death, she met her husband Sidney White Fuller while he was in town working as a tobacco auctioneer. The two soon went off to Huntsville, Alabama and got married there on December 8, 1947. Sidney and Lyda later moved to Henderson, where they lived for much of their life and raised three children who lived to adulthood.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her three children, her siblings Melba and Grace, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
