CARRIE ELIZABETH HENSLEY METCALF

MARS HILL - Carrie E. Hensley Metcalf, 95, formerly of Erwin, Tennessee, died Monday, May 19, 1997, in the Madsion Manor Nursing Facility, Mars Hill.

She was a Greene County, Tennessee native and had lived most of her life in Unicoi County, Tennessee. She was a daughter of the late William Henry and Jenny Rambo Hensley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ulys Metcalf, in 1979; three sons, Earnest Metcalf, Estie Metcalf and Harvey Metcalf; daughter, Ulester Metcalf and three sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Riley Metcalf and George Metcalf, both of Erwin, Tennessee, Elzie Metcalf of Flag Pond, Tennessee; four daughters, Genieve King of Marshall, Kathryn Colleria of Tampa, Florida, Glenna Sparks of Roanoke, Virginia, Aldree Slagle of Mars Hill; brother, Mattie Hensley of Greensboro; four sisters, Martha Sprinkle and Frankie Metcalf, both of Weaverville, Cindy Bridges of Greeneville, Tennessee, Lucy Jenkins of Mars Hill; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Presnell officiating. Music will be provided by Zade Metcalf, Yvonda Jenkins, Sharon Fender and John Metcalf. Interment will follow in State Line Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday at Ledford Funeral Home, Erwin, and at other times at the residence of a son, George Metcalf, Route 2, Box 229-B Erwin.
