Born in Canton, N.C., the youngest daughter of the late T. David and Argyle Hall Best. Mrs. Alexander graduated from Canton High School and Draughon's Business College. She retired as a bookkeeper from Rhodes Furniture Co. in Greenville after 30 years of service, and later retired as abookkeeper for Second Presbyterian Church of Greenville. Mrs. Alexander was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School.
On Aug. 5, 1945, she married W. Frank Alexander, who survives her and resides at the home along with a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Gail Thompson; one grandson, Andrew L. Thompson of Glassboro, N.J.; three sisters, Martha B. White of Americus, Ga., Jeanerette B. Fraske of Greenville, Miss., and Delorese Best of Canton, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Easley, with the Rev. Calvin Bryant, the Rev. Harold Sanders and the Rev. Calvin Vick officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, White Horse Road.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospital, 414-A Pettigru St., Greenville, SC 29601; or the charity of one's choice.
Imogene will be remembered by family and friends as one who loved them and her church. She loved the outdoors and camping in her beloved Western North Carolina mountains.
