Funeral services for Wiser Adkins,78, a leader in Democratic circles in this county and a prominent farmer who died last Thursday at 8:30 A.M. at his home in Sias, were held Saturday at 11 A.M. at the Colins Knob Baptist Church with the Rev E.L. Stephens of Huntington and the Rev Ebb Cummings of Sias officiating. Burial was in the Goldsbury cemetery. Although Mr Adkins never held county or state public offices he was high in his partys councils in the county.. Walter Adkins of Branchland, a son, is Lincoln County deptuty sherriff and another son, Elzie Adkins of Branchland, Route 3, is county probation officer and a member of the county board of education.
Active pallbearers will be the following nephews: Dallie Elkins, Dennie Wilson, Walter Plumley, Kermit Scragg, Watt Lovejoy, Lesile Adkins, Wirt McComas and Adrian Adkins. Nieces were flower girls.
The honarary pallbearers, most of then Lincoln county officials were John Hauldren, Role Johnson, Len Spurlock, U.S. McComas, Albert Black, Oscar Curry, Louis Midkiff, Randolph Sias, Ed Wilson, Elliot Lovejoy, Fern Johnson, Walter Scites, Hayes Elkins, Garfield Pauley, John Sanford, M.C. Adkins, Jake Marcum, Walter Scragg, Homer Hall, John B McGhee, Dennie WandeLinde, Rush McComas, Caleb Adkins, Enos Scragg, Greely Isaacs, Don Johnson, Dr George Walden, Frank Adkins, Millard Adkins, John Pridmore, W.T. Black, Frank Yeager, John Pack, Ira Adkins, W.F. Damron, Leslie Thacker, C.C. Hill, Jess McComas and Ralph Hill.
Mr Adkins had been a lifelong resident of the community. Surviving are the widow, six sons, Walter, Willard, Elmer, Elzie and Dewey Adkins of Branchland and Golzie of Hamlin, four daughters, Mrs Charles Young of Mount Hope, Mrs Frank Adkins of West Hamlin, Mrs Estelle Hill and Miss Mona Fae Adkins at home; two brothers, James Adkins of Griffithsville and Henry Adkins of Dawes; two sisters, Mrs Isabelle McComas of Branchland and Mrs Minnie Blake of Logan, and 34 grandchildren.

Wiser Adkins- Mr Adkins, 78 year- old retired prominate farmer and gas well operator of Lincoln County, died Thursday morning at his home near Sias after a two weeks' illness.
Rev. E.L. Stephens of huntington and Rev. Ebb Cummings will conduct the funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Collins Knob Baptist church, of which Mr Adkins was a member. The Johnson and Koontz Mortary at Hamlin will have charge of burial services at the Goldsbury cemetery.
Mr Adkins, a native and lifetime resident of near Sias,is survived by his widow: six sons, Walter Adkins, chief deputy sheriff of lincoln county; Willard, Elmer, Elza and Dewey Adkins, all of Branchland, and Golzie Adkins of Hamlin; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Young, Mount Hope: Mrs Frank Adkins, West Hamlin; Mrs Estelle Hill and Miss Mona Faye Adkins, both of Sias: two sisters, Mrs Irabelle McComas of Branchland and Mrs Minnie Blake of Logan, and two brothers, James Adkins of Griffithsville and Henry Adkins of Dawes
