Michael W. Messer, Sr.
August 30, 1944 - November 25, 2017
Michael William Messer, Sr., was born in Highland Park, MI on August 30, 1944 to the late Roy Edmond and Edlough Belle (McCreedy) Messer. He passed away November 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4786 in Fairgrove, MI. He was a Master Electrician and was retired from Delphi. He truly loved his dog Tikanni Marie. He enjoyed bowling, genealogy and computers.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy M. Thomas whom he married December 26, 1964 at Wisner United Methodist Church. He also leaves 3 children: Wendy Laurraine (Dan Darrin) Sayles, Cindy Lou (Steven Mark) Smith and Michael William (Susan Renee) Messer, Jr., a niece Linda Belle (Don) Dartt, his grandchildren: Jonathan Smith, Jacob Prahl, Christel Prahl, Ashlyn (Brandon) Donnelly, Briana Payea, Brooke Payea, Michael Joseph Messer, Brandee Sayles and Mason Sayles, and a brother Roy Edmond Messer, Jr. He was preceded in death by his sister Linda Ann Crosby.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St., Vassar, MI Pastor Greg Shepherd will officiate. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Lighthouse in Caro or the Tuscola Community Church.
