Obituary for Jan Gray Atkins
Jan Gray Atkins, 78, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Hospice of Rockingham County.

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Praise Assembly of God with Pastor Anthony Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home.

Jan was born in Rockingham County on April 15, 1944, to the late Dennis Kallam and Virginia Atkins King. He was a member of Praise Assembly of God for 20 years where he served as a Deacon. He was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jan enjoyed fishing and watching the Washington Redskins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Shough Atkins; and his stepson, Bradley Shough.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Kenneth Atkins (Lucinda) of Madison; his brothers, Dwayne King (Wanda) of Reidsville, Mark King (Vickey) of Mayodan, Petey King (Jeanette) of Mayodan, Tommy Kallam, Allan Kallam, and Dennis Kallam, Jr.; his sister, Rickie Kallam; five grandchildren, Lucia Ortega, Guillmero Ortega, Tyler Atkins, Kiarra Atkins, and Janet Atkins; two great-grandchildren, Alex Jimenez and Alan Jimenez.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
