Henry Arthur Bradley, Jr., 80, of Independence, Kansas, died Sunday evening, January 13, 2008, at Regal Estates Nursing Home in Independence, Kansas.

He was born December 2, 1927 at Independence, Kansas, the son of Henry Arthur Bradley and Irene (Ransom) Bradley.

He grew up and Independence schools, graduating from Independence High School in 1946. He attended Independence Community Junior College for two years.

After his schooling he worked for the Union Gas System for two years before joining the US Army.

He joined the United States Army on June 8, 1951. He served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and was discharged on December 22, 1952.

After his military service, he worked at the Kansas Army Ammuntion Plant in Parsons, KS, and other various jobs in the area. He moved to Wichita where he worked at the Coleman Corporation for a time. In December of 1955, he began employment with the United States Post Office and worked for them until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence and was an avid golfer, fisherman, gardener and St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.

On August 14, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Rita Vann and she survives at the home.

Additional survivors include: two brothers, Dr. Fay Dean Bradley of Independence, KS, and Earl Gene and wife, Edwina Bradley of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Mary Wilson and husband Vernon, of Wichita, KS, and Anita Monroe of Independence, KS; his sister-in-law, Nanette Bradley of Independence, KS; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Bradley.

Funeral services will be January 18, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church of Independence with the Reverends Jack and Marilyn Gregory, pastors, officiating. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
