George's obituary read: "George Henry Spencer, age 69, 1453 Old Harlan Road, Cumberland, Kentucky, departed this life Wednesday, April 15, 1992, at the Laurel Manor Nursing Home, New Tazewell, Tennessee, following an illness.

A native of Scottsville, Kentucky, he had lived here for the past 13 years. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Cumberland, Kentucky, and retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jenny Armes Spencer, Cumberland; five children, Ronald Spencer, Ferndale, Michigan; Cheryl Simms, North Rochester, Michigan; Diane Deslandes, Troy Michigan; Randall Spencer, Greenville, Indiana; Lisa Powell Ingles, Indiana; one sister, Helen Epperson, Covington, Indiana; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Parker-Jones Funeral Home, Cumberland, Kentucky, from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M. Friday, April 17, 1992.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 1992, from the Parker-Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Tracy Gross officiating. Interment will follow in the Huff Cemetery, Cumberland, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be deacons of the Central Baptist Church. Parker-Jones Funeral Home, Cumberland, Kentucky, is in charge of funeral arrangements."
