Harold Lloyd Ackerley, 84, Adrian, MO, died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Bates County Memorial Hospital, Butler, MO. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, officiated by Rev. Paul Burhart, Adrian First Christian Church. Music by Raelynn Kershner. Cremation. Inurnment will be held in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Contributions may be made to Crescent Hill Cemetery or to the Adrian Optimist Club.
Harold was born August 16, 1923 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Lloyd E. and Ethel A. (Fisher) Ackerley. Harold attended Amsterdam High School. On March 2, 1945, he joined the U. S. Army. While in the Army, Harold received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1946. Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Murdock on September 3, 1948. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage together.

Harold loved to hunt, fish, travel, golf and play cards. He also loved being around his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He spent most of his life in the Bates County and Adrian, MO area. He loved this community and loved being involved in the community activities. Harold was a long-time member of the Adrian Optimist Club and was a member of the Crescent Hill Masonic Lodge #368.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy and his brother, Gene. Survivors include two sons, Harold Ackerley, Jr. and his wife, Trish and Danny L. Ackerley and his wife, Eugenia, all of Paola, KS; one daughter, Teresa L. Robey and her husband, Bill, Butler, MO; one brother, Mike Ackerley, Napa Valley, CA; two sisters, Geraldine Prough, Shell City, MO and Virginia Ferguson, Adrian, MO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
