Donald E. Annas passed away peacefully on September 14th. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Matilda ("Tilly"), brother William, sisters Catherine, Juanita, Marion and wife Ramona. He is survived by his children Shari, Sandra, Dawnella and Chris, along with 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Donald was born in Portland, Oregon, a son of a baker. He began his adult years as an evangelist preaching, playing the trumpet, bass fiddle and steel guitar. After being an Associate Pastor for a short time in Klamath Falls, Oregon where he married his beautiful bride, Don and his wife Ramona went on to Pastor 1st Assembly of God in Manteca California for 25 years. It grew from 30 to over 600 people in attendance with three building programs. In 1977 he moved to Scotts Valley to join the leadership and eventually the Superintendent position of the Northern California\Nevada District of the Assemblies of God. During this time he also served on the Bethany University Board and was chairman for 6 years. In 1997 Rev. Annas resigned his position to care for his wife, who wrestled for the next 20 years with Alzheimer's disease.
They were married for 66 years.
Rev. Don Annas was a kind, gentle, patient, and caring person, a loving husband, wonderful father, Grandfather, Pastor, Superintendent, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, September 23rd at Christian Life Center 1009 Mission St., Santa Cruz.
