Mary E. Stroud-Aaron died August 3, 2006 at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1922 in Troy. She was the older of two sisters. She married Willis D. Aaron on June 30, 1947. He preceded
her in death November 4, 1977. Immediate family survivors are two grand nieces Tawni Stroud of Fairfield Twp., Kami Jackson and her husband Derek of Dayton; three great-grand nephews Kamiron, Derien, and Kaden Jackson. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents Seymour W. and Nettie King Brandon Stroud, her sister, Esther Stroud-Quisenberry, half brother and sister James and Gertrude Brandon, niece Connie Daniel, and sister-in-law Hazel France Brandon Bradford. Mary graduated from Troy High School in 1940. She was a licensed cosmetologist graduating from Bernice's School of Cosmetology. She also graduated from Food Technology Inc. She worked in Dayton has a cosmetologist and after returning to Troy, as Dietary Supervisor at the former Stouder Hospital, retiring in 1986. She was a lifetime member of Harmony Chapter #26 Order of Eastern Star PHA and a member of the Stouder Silver Anniversary Club. She was the last original living member of the now defunct social clubs, Club al a Mode and the Bronzettes. Mary was a faithful
member of Zion Baptist Church, Troy for over 40 years. She served for eight years as the church clerk and was the secretary of the Budget Committee. She was an usher emeritus and the last living member of the church's first Improvement Club. She was also a member of the Senior Saints of Zion. As Mary requested, there will be no public viewing and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5 1:00pm at Zion Baptist Church, 711 W. Franklin St. with Pastor Phillip Paschal officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Her family will acknowledge relatives and friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M., 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
