He leaves behind his wife of over 54 years, his beloved Carolyn; a brother, Monty and wife Patty of Jacksonville, FL; and his fur baby, Punkin; the best brother-in-law, Dave Miller of Abbs Valley, VA; sister-in-law, Dixie Hunt of Pocahontas, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law, Warren and Myrtle Miller of Abbs Valley.
Jim graduated from Bluefield High School (Beaver) then earned his degree in Engineering from Bluefield State College. He retired from Stafford Consultants in Princeton. He was a member of Fincastle Presbyterian Church.
Jim was a special person. He was interested in everything, especially books. He always said, "books are my friends." He loved music and took lessons and learned to play the fiddle and flat foot.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV on Tuesday March 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Manning officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
