Bernhard Neudecker was born in Germany and emigrated to the United States at the age of 14, where he became an apprentice baker. Most of his career was spent working for the famous "Horn & Hardart" automat chain, in Philadelphia. He was an amazing baker, a craftsman, and a good friend.

He was married to Henrietta DiNardo Neudecker who preceded him in death. Bernhard was a loving and giving man of few words, and as one final gift he willed his body to science. His wife Henrietta is interred in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, in Springfield PA.
