Clarence Martin, age 97, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Clarence was born to Willie Green and Edna Corrine (Gibbs) Martin on September 27, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Texas.  He married Evelyn Jeraldine Owens.

He served in the United States Army and was S/Sgt Squad leader, Rifle Squad in 188th Parachute Infantry, 11th Airborne Division. He served in the South Pacific and Philippine Islands for 35 months during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Presidential Citation among many other ribbons and battle stars.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Martin; parents, Willie and Edna Martin; daughter, Ann Blackwell; brothers, Ellis Martin and Harold Martin and sister, Betty Creek.
