Johannes was living in Vught, Netherlands, when the Nazis arrested him for being part of the Resistance movement on 06 Sep 1944. He was imprisoned at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Germany until 16 Oct 1944, when he was moved to the Neuengamme concentration camp. He died there less than a month later, on 10 Nov 1944. It is unknown how he died (whether he was killed, or died from the horrible conditions and diseases at the concentration camps).
