Army Maj. Michael L. Green, 36, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; assigned to Headquarters, V Corps, Heidelberg, Germany; died Jan. 7 in Laghar Juy, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. Also killed was Sgt. James K. Healy. In 2009, a two mile section of U.S. Highway 90 in Gautier, Mississippi was named in the honor of Maj. Michael Green. Michael was born to Hacy E. and Jane Breland Green and was raised in Gautier. At the time of his death, Major Green was serving with V-corps Heidelburg, Germany. Major Green will be deeply missed by all who knew him as well as a grateful nation. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Jane Breland Green of Gautier, MS; his father Hacy E. Green Sr. and his wife Denise of Cleveland, OH; his twin sister Michelle LeBatard and her husband Johnson Paul of Vancleave, MS; two brothers Hacy E. Green Jr. of Vancleave, MS, Gregory Scott Green and wife Elizabeth of Birmingham, AL; maternal grandparents Fritz C. and Ruth Breland of Moss Point, MS Johnnie E. and Rowena Curtis of Meridian, MS, Tracy E. and Marie A. Green (deceased); two nieces Melanie Jane Green and Annaleigh Jane LeBatard; three nephews Clayton Paul LeBatard, Henry Curtis Green, and Hayden Johnson LeBatard; and his special love, Lora McKinna of Ft. Leavenworth, KS; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and military family. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Noon from First Baptist Church of Gautier, with Deacon James LeBatard officiating. Interment followed at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors. The family received friends FROM 6:00 TO 10:00 P.M. FRIDAY, JAN. 18, 2008 at O'BRYANT-O'KEEFE FUNERAL HOME IN PASCAGOULA, MS, AND AGAIN FROM 11:00 A.M. TO NOON SATURDAY, JAN. 19, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Gautier.
