Hazel was born to Laura and Albert Jeardoe on Dec. 18, 1911 at Republic County, Kansas. She was the oldest child of a family of five children. Her younger brother, Edward, preceded her in death in 1992 and her youngest sister, Dorothy Novak, in 2002.
Hazel married Thomas Butler Rodgers at Belleville, Kan. on Dec. 29,1931 before coming west. They resided in the Robinson Lake area east of Moscow for 25 years, before moving to Troy in 1970. They enjoyed a happy life together before he passed away in 1978.
Hazel had a long time employment at Gritman Hospital in Moscow. She worked there from 1958 until she retired in 1974. She loved her job and loved the people she worked with for so many years. She enjoyed art and craft projects, playing cards and listening to old country music. She loved gardening and always had a small vegetable and flower garden growing. Most of all, she relished her family and memories and her many friendships and relationships with the people of the Troy area.
She is preceded in death by one son, Thomas Rodgers and one daughter, Karan Miller.

She will be sorely missed by her family and all her many close friends and neighbors from her long life in Troy.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Moscow Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Short's Funeral Chapel of Moscow. The family suggests memorials be made to the Troy Fire Department Fund.
