Charlie was a life long member of St. Paul Catholic Church and married 66 years to the late Mildred Swagman Halter. He was son to John and Genevieve Halter. He is survived by one daughter, Jean (Don) Davis and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by daughter Carolyn Kovac and son, Glennon Halter, along with grandson, Tony Kovac and granddaughter, Ashley Davis. Charlie was the last surviving sibling to Mielrose Wingenter, George Halter, Roman Halter, and Jean Kirk.
Charlie was an army veteran of WWII, serving in Europe with 526th Armored Infantry Battalion. He was awarded 3 bronze stars and a combat badge among other medals and ribbons during his deployment. He was a member of American Legion post 388 in O'Fallon, Missouri. Charlie was a talented amateur baseball player who was inducted into the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame. He worked for General Motors for 33 years, until he retired.
