Lloyd E. Aaberg, 92, of Plymouth passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016 with his loving family beside him. Lloyd was born on March 24, 1923 in Stanton, Nebraska, a son to Casper and Mary Aaberg. As a child his family moved to Dodgeville, WI where he attended school and graduated from Dodgeville High School. He enlisted in the Navy and during World War II and served on destroyers in the Atlantic. On August 20, 1949 he was united in marriage to Catherine Hillebrandt. Following WW II he was employed by General Telephone and retired after 43 years of service with them. His employment with General Telephone afforded the family the opportunity to live in various areas of Wisconsin finally settling in Plymouth in 1968. Lloyd enjoyed traveling with Catherine and was active with golf, bowling, woodworking and fishing. Lloyd was a member of the VFW Post 5612 in Plymouth. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Catherine; two sons, Larry Aaberg and Jeffrey Aaberg both of Plymouth; a daughter, Susan (Daniel) Kapellen of The Villages, Florida; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Mary (Jason) Aufdemberg , Elliott and Clara of Charlotte, North Carolina and Anne (Timothy) Ernst, Joshua and Madeline of Madison. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Lauren, a brother, Robert and a sister Fern Aaberg. A funeral service for Lloyd was held 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 19 at Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. James Hoppert officiating with cremation following. Military honors were accorded by VFW Post 5612. Family and friends visited at the funeral home, 123 South St. in Plymouth on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. Lloyds family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Aurora At Home Hospice for the loving care and support provided to Lloyd and his family.
