Originally his name was listed as James Crawford Bynum, Jr. because that is what was listed as his name on his senior picture in 1966. The memorial has been changed to reflect the name in his obituary.

James Cranford Bynum Jr. passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021 at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer. Everyone that knew James would describe him as a wise, humble, and happy man with a heart of gold. Although we are sad that he left this earth too soon, we are certain he is happily reunited with the love of his life, Marsha Shockey Bynum, who preceded his death in 2012. James was born November 18, 1948 in Adel, GA and was raised on his family's farm. He was the youngest of two children of James Bynum, Sr. and Blanche Walker Bynum, who are both previously deceased. James loved growing up on the farm and picking peanuts, but he sought an advanced education and eventually received a Master's in Business Administration from Georgia Institute of Technology. James married Marsha in 1973 and they started a family with James III, born in 1975, and Justin, born in 1977. Although they only had two children by blood, the Bynum's were known for their love and support for many other youngsters they treated as family. Most notably is Stephen Dunseith, who shared a special relationship with James and supported him until the end through weekly coffee visits and unconditional love. James is survived by his sons, their spouses / life partners, four grandchildren, and many others who will always be part of the extended family.
