During his life Plair had many jobs including a milkman, working for the NJ Zinc Company, a ticket agent and switch operator for the Lehigh Valley Railroad, co-owner/operator of LaRose's Skating Rink, Lehighton and Paxton Skateland, Paxton, Illinois. He retired after 30 years with U.S. Postal Service. After retiring from the US Postal Service, he was a courier for Techna Graphics and a greeter/assembler at Walmart, Lehighton.
Born in Union Hill, on Nov. 12, 1928, he was the son of the late William B. and Mary (Beidelman) Koch Highland, and stepson of Harry Highland.
He was one of the oldest members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton. He was very active in the church, serving on council, as church treasurer and as an usher.
In his youth he was active in Boy Scouts and played baseball for the former Fairyland Farms baseball Team, Franklin Township.
He enjoyed spending time with his loving family, was an avid reader of various events in history, especially wars and gardening. He enjoyed watching football and loved eating sweets. He also enjoyed talking with people and telling stories about his life.
Surviving are five daughters, Roxanne Koch of Lancaster, Claire, wife of Richard Everett, of Harrisburg, Deborah, wife of Patrick Fagan, of Willow Street, Brenda, wife of Roy Artz, and Barbara Koch, both of Lehighton; a stepsister, LaRue (Highland) Slavicz, wife of Edward Slavicz, of Bethlehem; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great-great-grandson.
