Karen was a resilient woman and was able to overcome life obstacles using her determination and grit. Her most important roles in life were being: devoted wife for 39 years, loving mother to six children, nurturing grandmother to 10 grandchildren.
Karen's joys in her life revolved around traveling and family. She took every opportunity possible to travel to the beach, celebrate family birthdays, and enjoy time with her husband and best friend Bill Ajamie. (Sweet Villie)
Karen graduated from Warren Central High School and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She was a nurse for over 20 years at New Hope, and St. Vincent Family Life Center. After her career in nursing, Karen volunteered her time at the Ransburg YMCA, and was a teacher assistant at the Little Flower Catholic school.
Survivors include: husband, Bill Ajamie; four children, Emily (Ajamie) Halpin (Spouse: Bill) Sam Ajamie (Spouse: Karla) Katie (Ajamie) Bremer (Spouse: Ryan), and Chad McWhinney (Spouse Mary Kris); grandchildren include:, Anabelle, Farrah, Eloise, Avery, Connor, Carson, Cathryn, Renee, Sam, and Max. Other survivors include sisters, Linda Fitzgerald, Brenda Swearingin, and Teresa Flack. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Preceding in death were: son, Joe Ajamie, daughter, April McWhinney, and sister, Joanna Carroll.
Visitation will be on Sunday January 16, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Oakley Hammond Funeral Home. Services: Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022 in Little Flower Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery following the service. Mask wearing is preferred.
