Meloni Beauchamp (née Underwood) was born on August 26, 1962 to Donald and Gretta Underwood in National City, California. She attended school in San Diego until the 9th grade when she and her family relocated to Albany, Oregon. She graduated from South Albany High School in 1980 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. She was first stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. She was then stationed in Panama for a year, a time she forever looked back on fondly and where her faith was reignited.

After her time on active duty, Meloni attended Multnomah School of the Bible for one year before transferring to Western Oregon University. While at WOU, she joined the Army ROTC program. She earned her commission, joining the Oregon National Guard, and graduated with a degree in Psychology. It was at WOU that she met the love of her life and husband, Charles Beauchamp. The two wed in 1992 and were married for almost 25 years.

After graduating, Meloni went to work for the state of Oregon in the Employment Department for many years where she made many wonderful friends and served the people of Oregon.

In 2009, Meloni deployed to Afghanistan for 15 months. During her time overseas, she worked in civil affairs, assisting the women of Afghanistan and advancing their interests in education, business, and civil rights. While there, she earned her combat action badge and lost several friends. This experience helped her assume the role as a casualty assistance officer when she returned, notifying and assisting multiple families who lost loved ones in combat with empathy, professionalism, and respect.

When she returned from her deployment, Meloni retired from the Oregon Employment Department and became the Oregon Military OneSource Consultant. In this job, she continued serving the community by educating Soldiers about the resources available to them and their families, and ensuring services were provided efficiently and appropriately.

She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Oregon National Guard on June 30, 2015 after over 35 years of faithful service.

Meloni loved reading, travelling, hiking, and shoes. She was always there to help her friends and family in whatever way she could and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Bryanna, her mother, Gretta, her sister, Dana and her children, Krissy and Brandon, her brother, Ralph (Rhonda), and their children, Sabrina, Daniel, and Shaina, her step-children, Charles and Sam, her grandchildren, Jessica (Allen) and their children, Roman and Ramses, Ryan, David, and Sara (Tom), and her sister-in-law, Milagros. She was preceded in death by her husband, SGM (Ret.) Charles H. Beauchamp.

She will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086, at 10:00am on January 19, 2022. A celebration of life will follow at Grace Baptist Church, 4197 State St, Salem, OR 97301, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Benton Community Foundation, SGM Charles H. Beauchamp Memorial Scholarship Fund (soon to be renamed the SGM Charles H. Beauchamp and LTC Meloni Beauchamp Memorial Scholarship Fund).
