THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue. April 14, 1931, p. 3, col. 6. The funeral service of Posie D. Stone, age 37 years, 6 days, who was fatally wounded Saturday night by a bullet shot by Claud Roberts, was held at his home near Bassett, April 6, and was laid to rest in the family burial ground. He leaves to mourn his loss, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Stone, five sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Ruth Koger, Bassett, Mrs. S. H. Cannaday, Nola; Mrs. W. G. Ward, Roanoke; Mrs. J. T. Philpott, Walker Town, N.C.; Mrs. H. R. Lacy, Fessenden, North Dakota, and J. L. Stone, Elbert, W. Va., S. A. Stone, Twin Branch, W. Va., K. E. and A. B. Stone, Bassett. the pall bearers were nephews of the deceased, Henry, Allen and Kerf Koger, Henry and Chas. Cannaday, and Harry Thompson. The flower bearers were nephews and first cousins: Roy Cannaday, Melvin Stone, John, Jeff and Charles Philpott and Jim Adkins.
