Linda Paulette Chesnut, 72 of Nevada, MO went to be home with her heavenly father on January 04, 2022 at the Nevada Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Linda was born July 07, 1949 in Nevada to Arthur L. and E. Paulene (Flagor) Sewell Sr., the fourth of six children.

Linda grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada Elementary schools and finished her education at the Fort Scott Christian Heights graduating in 1967 as Valedictorian. Linda then went to Kansas City where she attended some college at the Kansas City College and Bible School and then Draughon's College of Commerce. After living and working for three years in Kansas City at an Insurance office she decided it was time to come back to Nevada. It was then that she started working at the Farm & Home office and during that time that she met the love of her life. On Feb. 03, 1974 she was united in Marriage to K. Leon Chesnut, Jr. where this union was as strong as ever until her death. They lived in Deerfield from 1974 to 1982 then moved to Nevada where they still reside.

Through this marriage were born three lovely children, Leonette, Budd and Kasey. Her employment at Farm & Home continued until 1982 when she decided to stay home with her children after Kasey was born. In 1985 she went back to work this time at Heartland Behavioral Health Services and then in 1989 she worked at Adams Architect's office for one year. Linda then worked at several different positions for the Nevada State Hospital for the State of Missouri for 26 years. She then retired to stay at home. This did not last as she went back to work from home for the Department of Mental Health until all part time positions were terminated due to the Covid virus in July 2020. After her final retirement, she went into genealogy for her family and friends and thoroughly loved to research her history.

Linda took part of several organizations at various time, such as Relay for Life, Meals on Wheels (treasurer), Bushwhacker Days, Home Interior sales person, help with auctions benefiting Children's Mercy Hospital and participated in several bowling leagues. One of her favorite hobbies was collecting pottery made by the Cambridge Ohio factories for the Sears and Roebuck Co. and going to flea markets looking for bargains. Another of her hobbies was to travel. In her lifetime, she and her family visited 47 states.

Linda is survived by her Husband of the home, children Budd and wife (Amanda), Kasey and wife (Carol) of Nevada. Grandchildren Cynthia, Lorelei, Kasey Jr., Thomas Chesnut of Nevada and Kelsey of Sacramento, CA and Jacob Hammontree of Topeka, KS. One sister, Carol Strickland, one brother Kenneth Sewell and wife Debbie. Sister-in-laws Twila Sewell, Regina Sewell, Linda K. Sewell and Carla Chesnut, and several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Leonette Hammontree, three brothers Danny, Sonny and Rob Sewell, brother-in-law Johnny Strickland and nephew Travis Sewell.

Through Linda's love of researching her family history, she came across the story of her third great grandfather, William Broaddus. In October 2021 she traveled to California to explore the area where he lived as a gold miner and died by a bear attack. The cemetery in the area is currently raising funds for a monument to be constructed which will have William's name on it, an endeavor Linda was determined to help see to the end.
