Ralph M. Weinstein, 90, died Saturday, December 15, 2007, at his residence in Jamesville. Born in Syracuse , he was the son of the late Abraham and Dora (Sharp) Weinstein.
Mr. Weinstein was a lifelong resident of Syracuse , except for a brief time he spent in Minnesota. Ralph worked as a senior sanitarian for the state of New York, inspecting nursing homes and other facilities until his retirement in 1984.
Before beginning work for the state, he worked in the private sector, including a laundromat business he owned and operated jointly with his late brother, Kenneth. Mr. Weinstein was a 1939 graduate of the School of Forestry at Syracuse University and a fine tenor who sang with the Syracuse Chorale for many years.
He was devoted to Bernice (Schultz) Weinstein, his loving wife of 68 years; to his daughter, Annette (John) Buckmaster; to his son, Mark (Deborah) Weinstein; and is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Simon and Marcie Buckmaster, Rachel and Doug Zucker, Lauren Weinstein and Tim Hodler, and his great-granddaughter, Avery Zucker.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette St. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
