Mrs. Deborah Ann Naylor Wingate, 70, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at her residence following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Virgil Naylor and Iva Hawthorne.
She is preceded in death by her step-daughter Gretchen Leonard. Debbie made Lake City her home for many years before moving to the O'Brien area to build a new home with her husband Wayne on the family farm. She worked as a registered nurse and administrator at Lake City Medical Center for over thirty years before retiring to spend more time with Wayne, her grandchildren, and her dog. Debbie loved adventures -- she rode motorcycles and was a skilled open water and cave diver. She and Wayne greatly preferred traveling around the country in their RV to living in it with a spoiled English bulldog while their new home was being built. Debbie was a Christian and an active member of New Life Christian Fellowship in Lake City where she faithfully served the congregation as an usher.
Debbie is survived by her husband Wayne Wingate of O'Brien, FL; her step-daughter Heather Oliver (Joe) El Mirage, AZ; her two step-sons K.J. Wingate (Buffie) O'Brien, FL and Benjamin Wingate (Lindsey) Thomasville, GA; her siblings Darrell Naylor (Sylvia), Chris Naylor, Steve Hornak (Angie), Terry Black (Tony), and Sherry Evans (Vance); and six grandchildren Jason, Gavin, Jeven, Abigail, Jaeli, and Elijah.
Funeral Services for Debbie will be conducted Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at the New Life Christian Fellowship in Lake City, FL with Pastor Buddy Meloy officiating. Interment will follow at O'Brien Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Daniels Funeral Home in Branford, FL from 6:00 PM. until 8:00 P.M.
