Born March 23, 1949, in Ocala, Fla., he was a son of the late Francis Alphonso Jr. and Janis (Cooper) Abati.
Frank was a graduate of Hazleton Area High School, Class of 1967.
He then served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict in SETAF in Italy.
Frank first worked for McAdoo Manufacturing and then for All Steel Co., Hazleton, until retiring.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Port Carbon.
Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, the Rev. Lorraine Heckman, Port Carbon; his son, Jason M. Abati and his wife, Traci, Port Carbon; a brother, Michael Abati and his wife, Jeanne, Drums; a sister, Susan McClure and her husband, Elwood, Chambersburg; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at First United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will be held privately in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help with Frank's funeral costs to Robert A.
