Mrs. Abbott was born in Simpsonville to the late Dillard Bud Ballew and Catherine Virginia Kirby Ballew. She retired from Fiber Industries and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Ivy enjoyed traveling, cooking and sewing. She cherished by "MaMa" to her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Tommy Abbott (Rhonda) and Kent Abbott (Michelle); two daughters, Cleva Garner (Porter) and Judy Howard; a brother, Kirby Ballew (Thelma); two sisters, Jean Smith and Caroline Garrison; a son-in-law, Machen Clark; seven grandchildren, Heather Bradshaw; Scottie Howard (Jennifer), Jody Morales (Luis), Christopher McHone, Beth Bladon (Justin), Leigh Garner, and Katie Dills (Conor); and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Clark; a brother, Charles Ballew; and a sister, Martha Brown.
