Prairie City, IL - Ethel M. Simon, 88, of Prairie City Nursing Home, formerly of Fairview, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 1992, at the nursing home.
Born March 12, 1903, in Fulton County to Thomas and Ada Stone Slater, she married Edward F. Simon on Aug. 30, 1923, in Peoria. He died Feb. 2, 1982, in Canton.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Heidenreich and one son, Thomas J., both of Springfield; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lola Latimer of Canton and Mildred L. Evans of Chillicothe.
She worked with the hot lunch program in the Fairview school system, retiring in 1966.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Fairview.
