Dale Lee "Bird" Berninger of Sayler Park, Ohio, died on Aug. 26, 2021 after a long illness. He was born on Oct. 17, 1947, to his parent Melvin & Hazel (Uffelman) Berninger. Dale graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Dale retired from Bayer in 2002. He was a life time member of the VFW, Delhi American Legion-Post 534, and Delhi Veterans' Association. Dale was a joke teller with great one liners & had a great sense of humor. He was devoted to his church & served in many capacities.
He is survived by his wife: Danette (Salter) Berninger; children: Michael (Sarah) Berninger & Andrew Berninger; step-children: Cynthia & Anthony Kelly; brother: Donald (Sharon) Berninger . He leaves behind 2 precious grandchildren: Adeline Berninger & Chase Kelly. He had numerous nieces, nephews, extended family & dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin & Hazel Berninger; sister: Joyce Martin.
Visitation will be held at the Western Hills Church of Christ, 5064 Sidney Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45238, on Wednesday, Sept. 1st from 10 am until the time of the service at 11:30 am. Interment at the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro, IN with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Delhi American Legion Post-534 or the Western Hills Church of Christ.
