Age 58.

Jay was the fourth-born child, of six, and only son of Clarke Havenhill and Viola Pruitt. His mother died two days before his second birthday, of complications from child birth. She had just delivered twin girls a few days before. After the mother's death, the babies were taken by an aunt to be raised apart from their older siblings. One baby (Ava) died nine days later and the family did not reunite with the other sister (Ara) for thirty-five years. So Jay was raised the youngest in the family, with three older sisters. All were close together in age.

He was married to Helen Juanita "Nita" Cox in 1929 Oklahoma by the Rev. Carl V. Covey. They had two children, the eldest a daughter, Helen J. in 1930, and a son Robert, listed below. Helen J. died in March 2016. He then was married to Ruby Vincent in 1934 Oklahoma by the Rev. R.C. Taylor and they had two more sons, Don and Floyd. Both are listed below.

Jay died of complications from his diabetes (as did son Robert).
