Omer Kent Sloan Jr was the son of Omer Kent Sr and Nellie Mae Sullivan Sloan. He was the 6th child born of eight children. They are, in order of age: Margaret Eileen, b: 1920; Carmen Edith, b: 1922; James Franklin, b: 1923; Vera Vernita, b: 1925; Betty Elois, b: 1926; Vonita Marie, b: 1932; and Lorene 'Rinkie' Nellie, b: 1934.

MARRIAGE:
Junior married Grace Evelyn Henson of Hillview, daughter of William Newton and Mary Ruth Inman Henson, on 25 Jun 1947 in Carrollton, Greene County, Illinois.

CHILDREN:
To this union were born six children. They are, in order of age: Evelyn June, Gary Kent, Mark Douglas, Timothy Dale Sr, Danny, and Stanley.

PERSONAL BIO:
Junior attended Greenfield Community High School where he played football. He was the quarterback for the school team called "Tigers." After graduating from high school, Junior got married and acquired a factory job in Jacksonville, Illinois. He worked there for about three years after which time he quit to help his dad on the family farm in Greenfield. Junior and his dad, Omer Sr, farmed together for three years, and then Junior got a farm of his own in Palmyra, Illinois, which he farmed for about 14 years along with the farm in Greenfield. This was a total of about 1,000 acres, 800 tillable.
After 14 years, Junior gave up farming, bought a home in Scottville, and started a timber business with his own sawmill. He had various logging trucks and tractors, skidders, and saws. Junior enjoyed the timber business. After this, Junior retired and drove a semi-truck parttime for various companies which took him cross country on business trips. He drove for these companies until the day he died.
