BECKLEY [ndash] Linda C. Gunnoe, 71, went home to be with the Lord on August 9th, 2021 after a several month battle with cancer.
She loved Jesus, her family, and friends.
She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Valley College. She worked for many years for One Stop convenience stores and a brief time at the Coast Guard Recruiting Office.
Her passions included her pets, chatting and helping her Navy Family group and hosting an online group for Gunnoe genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her longtime companion Claude England of Beckley WV, her father Homer Gunnoe and step mom Betty Gunnoe of Pittsburg PA, her mother Helen Yancey of Buffalo NY, brother Roger Dorton and wife Lea of Montgomery, WV, and a very special great aunt that raised her Esta Blevins of Beckley.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Melissa Gray of Stanaford, WV and husband John, son David Vaught of Louisa, VA and wife April. She also leaves behind grandchildren Catie Webb, Kade Dunham, Shannon Dunham, great grandchildren Jaxon Webb, Aubrie Webb, Julian Vaught, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give thanks to Nancy Wells who helped her during the early stages of the cancer battle.
A celebration of life will be held at Living Waters Baptist Church at 201 Jennings Street in Beckley, on August 28th, 2021 at 2 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that you would make a donation to the USO because of her love and respect for the military, or Bowers Hospice House of Beckley WV.
